Marketex Offshore Constructions and Van Oord have signed a steel structure fabrication contract for the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm. This offshore wind farm, with an installed capacity of 759 MW, will be operated by CrossWind, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco.
“The offshore wind power industry order portfolio of Marketex Offshore Constructions has been growing, supporting the validity of the development and order diversification strategy adopted. The cooperation with the Dutch partner – Van Oord – is a major step towards achieving our aspiration of being a trusted supplier for large-scale projects in the North and Baltic Seas,” explains Nadezda Vassiljeva, a member of the Marketex Offshore Constructions Board.
The contract preparation stage included extensive audits of the Marketex Offshore Constructions fabrication facilities carried out by Van Oord team, along with the review of the list of the projects implemented by Marketex Offshore Constructions and its personnel skill level. The fabrication of the steel structures is due to start in 2022.
The Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm will feature 69 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW wind turbines located 18,5 km off the Dutch coast. The wind farm is scheduled to be grid-connected in 2023, and is expected to generate at least 3.3 TWh per year, which is enough power to supply more than one million Dutch households.
